Sick For Toys

Raphael was always my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Most likely because his chosen weapon was the Sai, which happened to be the same weapon Frank Miller's Elektra preferred. Also, he was the wild one of the pack, if I remember correctly. The wild ones are always more interesting, aren't they? I was only into them for the first 8 issues of the initial run and, even then, I only really dug the first 3 or 4. I have a Raphael figure that I bought all those many years ago which has become my son's toy, now. Every once and a while he lets me play with it... like last night. This drawing came from the couple of minutes I was granted with the figurine.

I've been sick for the past few days and I'm not getting better. Grrrrr. Doesn't my body know I need to do some major Perhapanauts inking? The pages are all penciled and the ink will begin to flow today!

God of Thunder (live)

I love drawing Thor. Sadly, I'm still waiting for Marvel to hand me the book to illustrate...

Go For It

I'm sure this is way off character, in terms of armour design. I don't really know what Iron Man looks like but I went for it, anyway. Cuz, dat is how I roll.

Marker and whiteout on paper.

Patio Lanterns

Jackie, Stewart and I went camping up at Golden Ears Provincial Park, this past weekend. Nothing major. One night of car camping. But with a sick 4 year old, you can't really expect much more. I did manage to do a little bit of sketching by the light of the propane lantern. This was one of them.

I will do a book like this. I even have a name for it. Just need a story, now...

A Drug Against War

I figured I'd better post something non-Perhapanauts related, just to keep the blog fresh. So, with that thought in mind, I banged out this drawing of my favorite experimental drug injected runaways, Cloak and Dagger, last night. It's been a while since I've tried my hand drawing these characters, so there might be a few things "off" with their look. Let's just mark it up as artistic license.

Childhood's End

The pencils for the Perhapanuts Special issue are coming to an end and I should be inking the pages next week! After that, I've got a few things lined up and ready to roll. September and October look to be very busy months.

But, for now, here's a penciled panel from that Perhapanauts story.

Problem Child

I've been having some serious problems getting images to post on No Quarter. I wanted this drawing to go up yesterday but Blogger just didn't think it was the proper time for me to show it, I guess.

This is a penciled panel from the Perhapanauts story I'm working on. The pages are looking really nice, and dare I say, maybe even some of my strongest work to date. Now I just need to make sure I don't mess it all up in the inking!

Betty Davis Eyes

I've had my head down, working on the Perhapanauts pages. I'm having all kinds of fun. And they're looking good, too. But, sometimes, the need to break out and do something different takes hold. Sometimes you can ignore it and continue working on what you're supposed to be working on. Other times...

James Powell and I are in the process of putting a project together that I'm really excited about. Although the first 8 pages are scripted and ready to be drawn, the project is currently titleless. So, for now, we're referring to it as "Davis", after the name of the main character. Here is a drawing of Davis that I did yesterday... when I should have been drawing my Perhapanauts pages. This might not his "final" look but it's close. Hope you all dig it.

Now, back to the Perhaps'!
