Stars In The Sky

3 inked panels from "The Last Leaf". The pages are coming along. I seem to be happy with most of the inking, anyways. But, knowing me, that could change at any moment! ha

I just realized that there still needs to be some stars drawn in the windows in that first panel... oops.

The Perhapanauts: Molly's Story should be out in a couple of weeks! Make sure to grab a copy if you see it! And, I know you all know this but that UFO story I drew is now being serialized on the Ape Entertainment webcomics area. Here's a link to the latest page. Check it out and feel free to leave a comment and/or rating. Thanks!

Life In A Northern Town

So, remember I did the art for a 7 page UFO short story for Ape Entertainment called, Life Is Funny? And remember how I said it was going to be part of an online comic anthology (for now, anyways)? Well, the first 3 pages have gone "live". You can see them by going here! Please go check it out, and if you are in the mood, you can rate the story and/or leave comments. The more positive feedback the better. :)

The story was written by Chris Beckett, coloured by Osmarco Valladao, lettered by Josh Aitken and drawn by me. The above page is page 1 (FYI).

A Spaceman Came Travelling

This the cover to the Ape Entertainment UFO Anthology. The colours were done by the talented Osmarco Valladao. The launch date of the online anthology was October 31 and it gets updated with a new page every Thursday and Sunday. There has been one full story posted and another one has just begun. Go check it all out here!

Life Is Funny, the story that Chris Beckett, Osmarco and I did, will start after the current one is complete!

The Weaver

Time to change it up and show some sequential work. This is a page from the Ape Entertainment UFO Anthology story that Chris Beckett and I are contributing called, Life Is Funny.

I'll be honest, I was extremely happy with the way it came out after I inked it. But, now that Osmarco Valladao has weaved his colourful magic on it, I love this page! Especially the second panel. Perfect! I can't wait to see the whole thing up on the Ape site for all to read. It really is a great little story.

Rock and Roll Creation

Chris Beckett gave me a peek at one of the UFO pages that has been coloured by Osmarco Valladao. Loved it and wanted to share a bit of it without showing too much. So....

Panel progression time, again! Follow the creation of a panel from chicken scratch to final form. Well maybe not "final" form, it still needs to be lettered... but you get the idea.

Dude (Looks Like A Lady)

A quick warm up sketch of some dude skulking. Ink on paper.

Working on a cover for the UFO Anthology from Ape Entertainment and penciling pages for the Perhapanauts Special. Is it bad then that my hands hurt...

Running Dry (Requiem For The Rockets)

The ink is barely dry on this one. The UFO anthology Ape Entertainment is putting together is in need of a cover or two and I thought I'd throw some ink at paper and see what resulted. I'm not very confident that this will make the short list as a possible cover but I like it, nonetheless.

It still needs to be coloured, but I don't have the time to attempt that. The Perhapanauts pages will be needing my penciling attention as soon as I get the thumbs up on the layouts.

Love Labours On

The UFO story, "Life Is Funny", that I was drawing for Chris Beckett has been handed to the colourist and letterer. I think I did some nice work on it and I'm looking forward to seeing it going up on the Ape Entertainment webcomic site, soon. When it does, I'll make sure to mention it here and you all can see the fruits of our labour. Should be good.

Here is another panel progression image of one of the panels from page 3 of "Life Is Funny". You can see how the image went through a few changes in each stage to get to where it is. Hope you dig it.

When Tomorrow Comes

Here's the previous panel development image with the blacks spotted. Now it's ready to get colour and lettering added. Those will be done by other, more skilled people than I.

Little Thing Called Love

click image to make it bigger
Here's a fun little thing I like to do, from time to time. This the visual progression of a panel, how that particular panel goes from rough layout to pencils to inks. This one is from the UFO story but it isn't quite done, I still have to "spot the blacks". I thought I'd throw this up here now and I'll update it with the finalized panel tomorrow.

Crackity Jones

Here are a few more panels from the UFO story, Life Is Funny, that writer Chris Beckett and I are doing for APE Entertainment. I have the thumbs up from Chris and my editor on the penciled pages and that means I'll be inking them as soon as I finish this post. And, um, I think I'm finished writing this post...

Guess I'd better get cracking!

Thumbing My Way

Here are a couple penciled panels from the APE story I'm working on with writer Chris Beckett. These panels are now ready for me to ink, once they get the thumbs up from Chris and my APE editor, Troy.

Speaking of Chris and Troy, after you're finished looking around my humble blog, you should check out Chris' blog. He has some really interesting posts about how the UFO story developed through a series of emails between the two of them. A look behind the writer/editor curtain. Good stuff.

Here are a couple of panels from a short story I'm doing with Chris Beckett for a UFO anthology from APE Entertainment. Not sure when this will be out but I'll definitely keep you all in the loop as things develop.
